Challenge

No platform for authentic local experiences

Foreign visitors in Korea have limited options for authentic local experiences. Domestic platforms aren't built for global users — Korean-only interfaces, local payment methods, no English support. Airbnb Experiences offers accessibility but lacks local depth: listings skew commercial, quality is unfiltered, and there's no consistent brand or space behind them. Hosts are left to figure out everything on their own.

Approach

An experience brand, not a marketplace

Instead of building another marketplace, I designed DODUM as an experience brand. The platform owns the space, the visual identity, and the booking/payment system. Hosts only bring their content. DODUM curates who gets in, ensures consistent quality, and gives every experience a unified brand presence. I handled brand strategy, naming, space planning, UI/UX design, and front-end development.

Bilingual pricing in KRW + USD, available dates, certified host profile, activity breakdown, included items, meeting place with map, reviews, and refund policy.

Outcome

Currently in Phase 1 validation via Airbnb Experiences. Three workshop programs launched — Korean Typography Art, Retro Poster Design, Custom Tote Bag. Dedicated space buildout completed in Busan. PG integration in progress. Targeting weekly recurring bookings as the primary validation metric.

Challenge

40% of food goes to waste

40% of food purchased by individuals goes to waste — not because people don't care, but because there's no easy way to track what's in your fridge, when it expires, and what to cook with it. Existing solutions are manual-entry apps that nobody maintains after the first week.

Approach

Zero manual input

The core design decision was eliminating manual input entirely. Instead of asking users to type each item, Mygredi uses Claude Vision API to scan receipts — one photo extracts items, estimates expiry, and logs prices automatically. This removes the biggest friction point that kills retention in food tracking apps. I designed the entire product from zero: user flows, UI system, inventory architecture, and the AI recipe engine that prioritizes expiring ingredients.

Core features fully implemented: receipt OCR, expiry tracking, price tracking with waste cost calculation, monthly reports, AI recipe recommendations, push notifications, and bilingual support. Currently in pre-launch phase targeting English-speaking global users.

Challenge

Built for accountants, not for you

Freelancers and small business owners juggle multiple bank accounts, irregular income, and unpredictable expenses — but financial tools on the market are built for accountants, not for people who manage their own money. The problem gets worse for Koreans living abroad: domestic fintech apps don't connect to foreign bank accounts, and international tools don't support Korean financial context.

Approach

Financial awareness, not accounting

I reframed the problem from "accounting software" to "financial awareness dashboard." Freelancers don't track money to do their taxes — they track it to reduce anxiety. So instead of ledgers and categories, I designed around three questions: What do I have? Where is it going? How long will it last? The dashboard surfaces net assets, monthly burn rate, and cash flow forecast on a single screen. Multi-bank CSV import with auto-detection eliminates manual entry.

Product designed and built on React + Supabase. Currently on hold while prioritizing DODUM and Mygredi. Positioned as a SaaS product for freelancers and Koreans abroad, where existing tools fail to bridge domestic and international financial management.
